Collector’s Piece
Patrick-Earl Barnes, Chicken Wayne,. T. Reaves Collection
One of my favorite works of art from my own collection is a work by NYC artist, Patrick Earl Barnes, called Chicken Wayne, from his series LLC Storefronts.
I’ve been following Patrick Earl since the late 1990’s when I would always see him and his art down in SOHO. I fell in love with his work then and I still love it. He’s become a popular and much sought after artist since. I have three works of art from him. I missed out on one I wanted very badly, but couldn’t purchase it at the time. It was from the same LLC Storefronts series. It was called Casket Sharp Suits. I really regret missing out on that one. But Chicken Wayne is my prize. It has such charm in its simplicity and humor in its expression. I just feel good whenever I look at this piece. I had it framed in a special shadowbox to really show it for the masterful work it is and I’m really proud of it.
Gallerists will always tell you to buy what you like. Well, I hit the jackpot with this piece. It just keeps bringing me joy over and over again whenever I look at it on my wall.
